Gabriele Esau (1959-)



Gabriele Esau was born in Neuenbürg, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. From an early age, she loved painting and drawing.
Between 1981-1988 she took a science degree at the University of Hamburg.
She is a self-taught artist who studied art through books, museums visits, exchanges with other artists, and her personal experience.
Her initial work was done in coloured pencil, but in 2004 turned she to oil painting. Her work is clearly driven by social concerns but with a subtle humour.
